We got up just as the sun was coming up and made our way to The Devils Marbles. Actually a very short drive down the road from where we camped. It was so much fun! The sun was shining and it was getting quite hot despite it being early in the day. I hadn't realised how many of them there were going to be they seemed to stretch in little clusters all across the horizon. Adam, Claudia, Frederika and I went running around like little kids climbing on everything and taking random photos lol. There is one of us trying to push a boulder onto the floor...good luck with that! The guys seemed bored but we just kept carrying on and that is when more tree climbing started. I had a lot of fun at the marbles and think I could have spent all day there to be honest just climbing and laughing and messing around with everyone but we had to get going to Alice Springs.
So we went walking towards the cars and came across this fence which we were joking was going to be an electric fence, just then I managed to snag my feet in some barbed wire I hadn't seen in the grass. It was not fun, I got so mangled so quickly that Adam had to stop me from moving and help me out of it before I slashed my leg up even more than I already did. Oh well, more scar tissue coming!
We got going and had to stop at a petrol station on route to Alice. So we chose Wycliffe Well without realising one thing...Wycliffe Well is well known for UFO sightings in the centre of Australia. You should have seen our faces when we pulled up and there was a model spaceship with 2 green men standing outside of it and UFO painted all over the shop! Did have a laugh though, well...till we saw the petrol prices! Jesus, petrol is expensive in this part of the country!
Arriving in Alice Springs in the afternoon we checked into a little place called Annie's place. Nice little hostel with some friendly staff and reasonable facilities. We we so tired though we just did nothing in the evening. This time though neither Claudia or I cooked the dinner, instead we got our German travel buddies to do it and they made the biggest amount of Spag Bol I have ever seen. WAY too much for the 8 of us! Wifi is free here so I thought I would upload some pictures of the trip but at almost 2am and mission not achieved I crashed and burned in bed!
The picture is of the 4 of us thinking we can push that boulder over!
