I hopped on the bus from Surfers Paradise to Brisbane and arrived about lunchtime.
I checked into the YHA there which was really nice and almost hotel like with it's rooftop pool! I was also feeling pretty crap so decided to take an afternoon nap before grabbing late lunch at the onsite cafe which was really nice.
In the evening I chilled with the girls from my room, who were from Taiwan! They were really sweet and still trying to learn English so kept asking for my help which I didn't mind! Sarah, my other room mate asked if I fancied a night out but still felt a bit rubbish so opted to stay in! We did arrange to spend the next day together and maybe head to the koala sanctuary.
So I caught up with some blogs that night and spoke to the two girls from Taiwan about various things which was really cool, then took a fairly early night.
The next day I was up about 9am, showered, had breakfast and then me and Sarah booked our tickets the the sanctuary and headed out to catch the bus and grab a $1 coffee!! bargain in Oz!!
The bus was about 20-25minutes so we shared stories etc! We then arrived and headed into the sanctuary to see some koalas! Both very excited!
We walked in, and the first thing we saw was some parrots...we looked at them for a while and went to walk away when suddenly I heard this 'hello' I looked at Sarah wondering if it was her, but realised she was looking at me in a confused way also...we turned back to look at the parrots and one was staring at us haha, so we said hello back and he replied :-) amused us for a wee while!! Then as we left this time he said 'bye bye' so cute haha...
We continued our walk around the sanctuary, saw sooo many cute koalas and then decided to get our photo taken with one which was really cool, they just cuddle you! Then Sarah wanted a picture with a snake but wasn't sure whether she dared do it!! I was trying to convince her when she asked if I would do it with her....Ermmm that's not what I was getting at haha....but I'm a nice person lol so I said yes!!!
FREAKED!! the snake was massive!! we both stood there looking absolutely terrified!!!! people were laughing at us and taking photos of us!! The snake was so heavy, they asked who wanted the head and I pointed at Sarah!! This was her idea after all!!
Anyway fear over! We survived!! we recovered by walking more around the sanctuary before catching the bus back into town for a few hours and then heading back to the hostel, to change, freshen up and head out for dinner.
We left the hostel around 7pm and went in search of pizza...it was really difficult!! We couldn't believe it!! We ended up just at fast food place, ordered way too much and felt so so full!! We walked back to the hostel where we planned to have a few drinks so we called at the bottle shop on the way back and bought a bottle of wine each.
Back at the hostel we had our wine and we were joined at our table by two canadian guys. They were cool, tried to get us to go out but we were so tired and I just can't be bothered with clubs as such anymore!! sounding old!! haha
After a few drinks and chilling out we headed to bed, I was catching the bus to a place called Maroochydore the next day...
