Well...Copacabana!! Where do I start!!
We arrived late afternoon, unpacked in our freezing cold hotel, then met at a local restaurant for dinner. The dinner was good, pumpkin soup which was yum followed by a Thai chicken curry.
Ok so the next day...
We was up at 6:30 to shower and get ready for our day trip across to Isla del Sol and to hike 14km :-/ I wasn't exactly excited for that but still, we had breakfast, wrapped up warm (it was really cold in the morning!) and headed down to the harbour (this was after I scolded myself in the shower and cut my foot!!)
We collected our packed lunch and walked over to the jetty, which we ended up been stood on for ages (they pile you on the boats so we was waiting for another one to come so that all 15 of us could fit on...
Meanwhile I dropped my gloves in the lake :-( that was the 3rd thing that had gone wrong!! All before 9am so I joked that it would probably be me falling in next!! Wish I hadn't!!
After our group conversation about how rickety the jetty looked (made from dodgy wooden beams) I suddenly heard a big crack followed by screams followed by me landing in the lake and grabbing matt who was clinging onto a wooden post!! Jake was clung to a boat next to us and most of the others were in the lake behind me!!
The entire jetty had collapsed!! And we were all dumped in Lake Titikaka!! Walking boots, backpacks, cameras the lot!! Fortunately me and my backpack survived but a few people had injuries, including one guy who broke his collar bone :-/ Bolivia is mental lol!! It wasn't funny at the time but now we all find it quite amusing! I just wish someone had filmed it!
Anyway that was my walking boots/trousers drenched so a 14km walk was out of the question!! Damn!! So by the time we dried off and changed the sun had appeared, it was starting to warm up an so we decided to head out for a few beers :-) and we spent all day sat in the beer garden before heading back to the hotel to change for dinner!!
We headed to the Mexican restaurant, big mistake when your in Bolivia! Mine and matts food never even appeared, I don't think they knew what a taco was!! But it wasn't all doom and gloom, it was happy hour! So buy one get one free cocktails! Who needs food anyway! Only downside was we had to be up early the following day :-/
Next stop Puna and the floating islands...
