Bangkok
My last stop over before I head back home. We didn't arrive to a Bangkok till around 1am and with the time difference we were exhausted. Managed to share a taxi with another guy which made it a bit cheaper.
We had booked into a nice hotel. Which was still pretty cheap in Uk standards. Our room was huge and had a jacuzzi tub too. Very different from hostel living. Enjoyed our buffet breakfast before heading up to the roof top pool. The heat is very different here, so humid. It was a sunny day but you could hardly see much across the city, I guess due to smog. We had lunch at the hotel before heading out to explore. Headed towards Khao San road. Found a street before that was so cool, loads of stalls, fairy light and hanging lanterns everywhere. We had dinner here both opting for thai curries. It was nice to be able to have a meal and drink for under £10 again. We then looked around the streets. Forgot how much I love Asia there is just so much to see. Brought presents for everyone and practised our haggling skills again.
My last day we spent the morning by the pool, getting my last sun fix. Defiantly going to miss this life. We then headed to MBK one of the shopping centres. Metered taxis are the cheaper way to get around here but we went for a tuk tuk as it's more fun. After haggling pretending to walk off etc we finally agreed on a price. He pulled over after a few minutes and said he would take us to a tourist information where Ash could book a train to the islands. He would also get a token if we went in. We agreed to it as Ash actually didn't need to go. I forgot about all these little scams they do here.
Again spent some time shopping and getting our last presents. Then headed back to Khao San for the evening for lore entertainment. It was so much busier tonight the place was packed. Saw loads of stalls selling fried bugs including tarantulas.
An early start for me today, off to the airport for my final flights home. I'm excited and nervous to be at home. Very excited to see my family and friends but not so much for real life of working full time again. I have loved every minute of travelling and so glad I did it. I probably would never of came if Ash hadn't suggested it. So I'm very grateful for that. I think I had the best of both worlds experiencing half of it with Ash and the other half with Sarah and Chelsea. All three of them were the best travel partners. I have made memories I will never forget. I'm positive I will travel again too, time to be a nurse again for a bit though.
