Arrived in Chiang Mai in the afternoon. Again no rest for us, we put a load of washing on then headed to the train station to book our tickets to Bangkok. Travelling is exhausting haha!
We headed out that evening to the Sunday night market. It was insane, so many people. We mainly hung around in the food area, after being veggie for a week we felt we deserved some meat. We found a boots near the market. Sarah and I got way to excited about this, it was just like being at home. After the market we headed to meet the other volunteers from our elephant week. It was one of the girls birthday so we went for a few drinks. She took us to a lady boy show, I am not going to lie it was pretty good. We ended up so confused the lady boys looked amazing. One even looked exactly like JLo. Headed to few bars for a dance afterwards. Ended up a later night than we had planned.
Up at 7 ready for zip lining. Bit of an error drinking the night before. The drive there was horrendous. The driver was like a rally driver and it was such windy drives. We pulled into the car park and the guides opened the doors all enthusiastic and there was Sarah throwing up into a crisp bag!!! I then ran to the toilets. The guys found it hilarious. We then kitted up and headed out. Zip lining was so much fun. It was like Go ape. It was only me and Sarah in the group so we had two guides to oursleves. They made it even more fun. We had two abseils to do. This was more like jumping off a platform and gliding down on your rope. The highest was 40m. The guides kept complementing my nose. I have never had that before haha, apparently the more pointy your nose is in Thailand the more beautiful you are. Bit of backhanded compliment I felt. Enjoyed a buffet lunch before the dreaded drive back.
Treated ourselves to a pedicure before catching the night train to Bangkok. We were really impressed by the night train. We were both on the lower bunk which were seats. They then came round and made our beds for us around they were surprisingly comfortable. We got woken around 5am and arrived in Bangkok for 7. Survived our first experience. I would definitely recommend it.
