Got a ferry across from Koh Lanta to Koh Phi Phi. This is the island where the film 'The Beach' was filmed. It's also supposed to be a bit of a party island. Took a while to find a hostel and a few we looked at were vile. Eventually found one on the beach. It started to rain so we decided to go out for some food. It was already pretty lively in the town. The town is full of shops, restaurant and bars. Also loads of stalls selling various cocktail buckets for a few pounds.
Headed to the beach after our food, the bars on the beach are insane. The music and the lights makes an amazing atmosphere. They all do fire shows every night aswell.
Went to 'slinky' and stayed there dancing for a few hours, so much more fun dancing on a beach!!!
Went on a boat trip the following day. It was called a 3in1 trip including snorkelling, cliff jumping and swimming with plankton. The snorkelling was amazing. I've never seen so many rainbow fish, made me very excited for Australia. we then headed to Maya Beach, where the film The Beach was filmed. It rained while we were here, just like in the film haha. Sarah was so excited as she felt she was so close to Leonardo Di Caprio haha!! It was so packed though and I can tell it would have been amazing a few years back. We then went to a lagoon to swim in, which was encased by limestone rock. Then next stop was cliff jumping. They said it was an 8m jump, there was a storm so the water was very choppy!! We had to jump out the boat and swim up to the rock one by one so we didn't all smash into it. The tour guide (Stuart, who was Sarah was crushing on) stated, there's no health and safety in Thailand. Great ha! We then rock climbed up the rock to our jump. I cut my knee, I'm starting to realise how clumsy I am!! One my first cliff jump I didn't quite land feet first and hit my bum, so much pain!! I also have the bruise to prove it. My second jump was much better and didn't hurt!! Our last stop was swimming with the plankton. We had to wait for the sun the set so it was dark enough. We then climbed out of the boat and when you moved around you could see the plankton glowing around you. It was so cool!!
That night we found a cheap place that sold strawberry daiquiris by the bucket, they were so tasty. Then headed to some bars (a bar where Stuart was to keep Sam and Sarah happy ;)), lots of beer pong, jenga and flip cup, again all on the beach.
A quiet day the following day as we weren't feeling our best. Chels and I attempted to swim in the sea but it was so gross from all the parties that happen every night. Made me feel really sad as the island is kind of ruined by party tourists! We eventually got to see a fire show the evening. It was insane!! They have no limits. Throwing fire over the crowd, one guy tight ropped walked over the crowd whilst spinning fire and drinking a beer. Then after the fire show they get the limbo stick out and everyone goes around limboing and the Thai guys show off their tricks.
Sooooo the following day I woke up at 5am feeling so ill, then every half an hour from then I was projectile vomiting. Food poisoning again for me yay! I was also on the top bunk after climbing down 8x I had had enough. We were meant to be travelling that day but I couldn't even move. Sarah sorted out a private room for us and carried all my stuff, she was amazing that day!! I managed to make it to the next bed but then did not move all day. I have never felt so ill in my life!! My lovely mummy facetimed me when she got up to speak to me from my death bed. When you are poorly it is no fun being stuck in a foreign country. To add to the drama filled day chelsea also came down with a fever and tonsillitis. She had a funny turn in town and went to the clinic. It all went down hill from there. She became delirious and ended up on an IV drip of antibiotics and fluids for 8 hours. Poor Sarah had to ring around her family and insurance people, I felt really bad that Sarah had to go through it alone. I didn't even realise it was going on. In the middle of all of this she also made sure Sam came in to check on me and bring me water :).
Feeling a little better in the morning we managed to get on a ferry to Krabi. Chelsea was still not good and couldn't carry her bag, she soldiered through and made it the next hotel.
