Up early to catch the ferry to Koh Lipe. Took around 1 1/2 hours to get here, they couldn't dock the boat on the main beach as it was too choppy so we got off on sunrise beach. There is three beaches on Koh Lipe, Pattaya, sunrise and sunset beach. You can walk around the island in a few hours. We had to climb into a small boat to the shore. The scenery was unreal, it looked like paradise. Clear crystal clear blue sea and white sandy beach. It was also so hot. We walked around for a while to find a hostel. We lost the others in our group so gave up and got a taxi to take us somewhere cheap. The taxi was a motorbike with seats to the side. He dropped us off at Seaside Resort which is right on the beach front. It had little wooden shacks for rooms. We wanted air con which doubled the price and were shown to a small bungalow. It had a huge bed which he said we could all share. We asked for bed sheets but the owner didn't speak much English, we gestured to him covering ourselves with a towel but he didn't get it and ended up bringing us a huge towel to use haha. It's like a game of charades! The Mosquitos here are unreal I have never seen so many!! The amazing beaches make it worth it though.
Explored the island a little after checking in, there is one main 'street' called walking streets, it's a straight road going from one end of island to the other. With small bars, restaurants and shops, it's so quiet here!! They only installed ATMs last year and they are very pricey to use. We spent some time on the beach and met Lindsey and Sam who we knew from George Town. Spent the evening with them. I had red curry (thai red curry haha) it was sooo spicy but so good!!
The next day was spent lounging on the beach and taking lots of dips in the sea. We watched the sunset which so beautiful the sky was bright pink!! We then decided to grab some food and eat on the beach. We all got Chang beer which apparently can range from 6%-12%. Had a dip in the sea in the dark which is fun. Some ladyboys sat next to us for a while which was interesting. Then headed to a few bars with everyone before heading back.
Again another beach day. Ate a small cafe on the beach, loving the watermelon juice here. In the afternoon we hired kayaks. Sarah had a single and chelsea and I hired the clear plastic boat. Massive error, Sarah had a light inflatable boat whereas our just kept spinning in circles so difficult to manoeuvre. Ended up climbing out and on to Sarah's so we got dive off it. If we dived off ours apparently it would sink, great! We could see all the coral and fish below though which was really cool. Headed back for showers then dinner on the beach. What a life! Another amazing sunset. We also enjoyed some BBQ food and had some giant prawns, so tasty! I will be sad to leave this island it has been the prettiest place I've seen so far.
Ferry to Koh Lanta in the morning.
