Phuket is a big place, some nice beaches along the coast line but we stayed in Phuket town so as to be close to the ferry port for phi phi island! From Phuket we did our visa run to Myanmar, Burma, so as to get a further 30days visa to stay in Thailand! We decided to do it a bit cheaper than the companies offering to do the run & did it ourselves! Getting on a bus to travel up the coast to Ranong, then over by small boat to Myanmar, which looked quite poor & we instantly had children coming up to us asking for money to eat! It was all quite an easy process actually & we then got back on a bus for the 5hour journey again back down to Phuket! All in a day! So that's a good job done & out the way! We finally met up with Valerie from Texas who was originally doing the trip with us, and a couple of her friends & had a good night with them in Kata by the beach where we spent most the evening in a surf club bar where I tried weight boarding on the man made simulator thing there which was great fun!! Now to start our trip round the islands :-)
