We had an early start sorting washing out and we went to the gym on the RV site before we set off over the mountains to Palm Springs! It was only 16’c in Bakersfield but 36’c in Palm Springs hard to comprehend such a big temperature change in a few hours drive! The drive was really tough as there was a warning for high winds so I struggled to keep control of the RV on the high roads! We couldn’t believe how the clouds and winds just dropped as we approached Palm Springs and it felt hot! Our RV site was great it had a pool and hot tub and was walkable into the centre of Palm Springs BUT it did feel a bit like pensioners paradise everyone staying there was over 50 ha! We set up then went for a walk into town to see what was happening! We had only just walked out of the RV resort when we spotted police cordoned the road off due to a fallen palm tree! We passed a guy struggling to get his jeep going it sounded like it wasn’t in gear but he was revving it to the top! We quickly walked past and before we knew it he was heading off at speed up the hill but then did a screeching turn round towards us, he sharply steered away from us to the other side of the road mounted the pavement and smashed into a water hydrant his car was a complete mess and the airbags had all gone off! Kurt ran to alert the police and I went over to tell him it would be ok police wouldn’t be long, he was covered in blood the car was leaking oil or fuel so I said to get out if he could, he growled at me and started the engine he then drove over the water hydrant causing water to burst all over the road! He tried to escape up the hill but the police stopped him! We made a quick exit and headed for the nearest bar! I needed a gin! Wow it was like being in a movie scene....
