Well, 14 days and still no sighting of any crocodiles or snakes in the wild, although I did have a close encounter with a couple of scary looking spiders... eek! We decided to 'rough it' one night and camp in a National Park. Facilities here include an open cold shower, complete with water straight from the river, compost toilets (YUK!) and gas BBQs, random I know! But they even have BBQ's set out here on every beach for families to use and 'put another shrimp on the barbie' like.
I should have started from the beginning, from Cairns we hired a campervan, probably the most outlandishly gay van you could ever imagine, a 'Hippie Campervan", woohoo! From Cairns we drove to the Tully Gorge where we stayed in the National Park and we were the only visitors there. The local brush turkeys were hassling us for food, I did encounter spiders, but apart from that we were fine. The scenery made it well worth it. So now we can cook our own campfire stylee breakfast and food, its great! After a couple more stops along the road, including one at Mission Beach (which is gorgeous) we drove on to Airlie Beach and we are looking to book a sailing trip out to the Whitsundays for tomorrow.
I'll add some pics on here soon xxx
