This blog will be slightly out of date but anyway... It was my birthday last Sunday and we spent three fantastic days out at sea, sailing the Whitsunday Islands. It was amazing! We took an eco tour on an old handcrafted boat and learnt about the local bush craft, did some hands-on sailing, and went snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef to see lots of colourful fish. Well, 14 days and still no sighting of any crocodiles or snakes in the wild, although I did have a close encounter with a couple of scary looking spiders... eek! We decided to 'rough it' one night and camp in a National Park. Facilities here include an open cold shower, complete with water straight from the river, compost toilets (YUK!) and gas BBQs, random I know! We are in Crazy Cairns!! We love it so much we've booked an extra night here! We had a fab day today after booking the tour only yesterday! We travelled up to Kuranda village by skyrail over the immense rainforest with great views of the bay.
