The rain stopped and the clouds lifted and spots of brilliant blue sky peaked through. Drove to Geneve, was in Switzerland for just a few miles. One can tell we are still high altitude. Continued winding down through the French Grand Canon. Many breathtaking views with no place to stop for picture taking. As we approach Beaune the landscape again was farmland. Lunch was a regional dish, stuffed pork loin. Beaune is the capital of Burgundy wines. A walled city with battlements, ramparts, and a moat that have survived and are in good condition. Walked through the streets stopping at some shops. One clerk told us to change our plans and go to the vineyards. It's picking time. Taking the one way streets to the vineyards on the outskirts of town. Vines, vines, vines, as far as one can see. Stopped to watch the pickers. Continued on to Chateau de Meursault. Pinot Noir grapes transformed into Burgundy wine. Back to the city to continue our walk finding the collegiate Notre Dame, Beffroi, Chapelle Saint Etienna, some more shopping and a wonderful meal.
