Other than having a lot of fun in Wanaka we took our first little camping trip to Dunedin.
We hit the road straight after work, passing through a few tiny (old school) towns on the way to the 'big city'.
We drove into Dunedin and experienced our first lot of traffic in a long time. First impressions reminded us of Southampton.. but we soon arrived at a peaceful campsite right on the beach. After putting up the tent for the first time (with no domestics!) we went down to the beach. This was the first beach we've seen in NZ so was pretty exciting. We also found ourselves a nice little restaurant over looking the sea so we could watch the late night surfers.. Samuel was getting itchy feet to get back in the water!
We woke up to a beautiful morning and went straight for a stroll along the beach before checking out a couple of other beaches in the area. We drove to Sand Fly Bay where we had to take a 30 minute stroll through the sand dunes to get to the beach. It didn't take much walking until we spotted our first seals and sea lions!!
After checking out the harbour, the steepest street in the world and having a spot of lunch, we made our way to Tunnel Beach which was pretty different from the previous one... We almost felt like we could be in Cornwall.
The next day the weather wasn't so great so we set off early. We stopped at the Moeraki Boulders which unfortunately were overrun with a school trip but it made for a nice cake break before heading back to Wanaka :)
