We spent a lovely activity packed few days in the capital. We were lucky to have a friend there, Ellie, who doubled up as a host and fab tour guide. The ferry journey itself was beautiful as to get out of Picton you sail through Marlborough Sound, the biggest of all the sounds.
We definitely couldn't have fitted any more into the three days we were there... Lots of walking, sightseeing and eating mainly. Ellie likes her food as much as us so she took us to all the best spots! We also checked out Te Papa which is New Zealand's main museum and it's huuuuuge!
One thing we have missed about cities is that they always have stuff going on. We were even serenaded by Robbie Williams who was singing Angels at his outdoor gig as we walked into town Saturday night. Ellie then took us to a really cool bar where we sat outside for a late night snack and drink with DJs around us. There was a lot of excitement in the air that night as not only was it Halloween but everyone was also getting pumped up for the Rugby final at 5am.
About 2 hours sleep and we were up up again for the final... Our plan failed to stay out until the match as soon as we had something to eat! I've never seen a place so alive at 4am but it was an awesome atmosphere. As expected it was a great game and the All Blacks won, which meant for an even better atmosphere!
The rest of the day was a pretty chilled one due to lack of sleep and achey feet from the day before, however we did go to explore some of the little bays. We enjoyed Wellington a lot and could have stayed for ages!
