We arrived to a rather cold Auckland on Sunday afternoon. Due to the cold weather conditions, first on our agenda was to get to the shops to buy some warm clothes! Luckily we were staying just off a road which I can only describe as being similar to Albert Road, with lots of cheap vintage shops. After a bit of shopping we decided it was time for a pub stop to celebrate the beginning of our next adventure :)
We had been told about how good the fish and chips are here and that was one of the many foods we had been missing lately, so that was dinner sorted.
Our evening ended with a trip to the supermarket, something we hadn't done in a long time. We've never been so excited shopping for food... But also quite lost!
Our first day felt very surreal, mainly due to the fact that everyone spoke English, it wasn't 30 degrees and there weren't people trying to sell you things as you walked down the street. It was a nice feeling though :)
After an amazing nights sleep, we wandered down to the Harbour, which was very similar to Gunwharf, just with a few more yachts.
The hostel we were staying at (which was more like two huge houses) had a massive kitchen, something which the hostels in Asia didn't have because of meals being ridiculously cheap.
That evening we cooked our first meal within 6 months... Well Samuel did! We had to have one of the foods we'd missed most... Sweet potato!!!
The next day we had a lovely lie in, something we hadn't done in ages.
In the afternoon we took a little trip to Mount Eden which had a beautiful view of Auckland.
Just as we arrived at the bottom, it started to rain and we took cover for a nice hot choc! Realising it wasn't going to ease off, we spent the rest of the afternoon chilling at the hostel playing cards, scrabble and drafts!
This morning we had an early flight to Queenstown, where we were met by Millie and cupcakes!
We are staying with Mill for a few nights whilst we get our bearings, however we have already fallen in love with Wanaka... It's so beautiful! And there's snow!!!
We shall be hitting the slopes tomorrow...I'm gonna have my first boarding lesson whilst Samuel and Millie play on the bigger ones. We cannot wait :)
Fingers crossed we can get a job here as we already don't wanna leave anytime soon.
