Interesting day today! Started off with a short hike around the tea plantation where we stayed. The kelberne estate is very large and situated on the side of a hill over looking the most beautiful scenery. Hiked along to the big rock before heading up through the tea bushes to our bungalow. So up at 2am today to climb 11600 total steps to watch the sunrise over Adams Peak. I would like to say it was a enjoyable experience but it wasn't. On the plus side work out was over by 7am. Slight issue with the car, the battery ran out I. The key meaning it wouldn't start for us so had to wait an hour for a new battery. Day 1 spent in Colombo. Collected the hire car, quite daunting the driving here. Have to be looking in all directions to make sure that there are no tux-Tucs, motor cycles, cars or bikes trying to sneak in, buses and lorries are automatically allowed in due to size. Took the train from mount Lavinia into the city! Visited a Hindu and 2 Buddhist temples along the way before being taken to a gem factory. Not really my scene but nevertheless entertained it. Next stop on the summer tour was Chamonix. The 2 glaciers campsite is a great find just 3km outside of chamonix but with great views of Mont Blanc and of course the 2 glaciers. Great pitches, reasonably priced and a small stream running down the side so you can chill any fridge items in without it chasing away down stream. A trip up the Midi is a must even though it swings just a little when it goes over the arms and causes people to vomit there in the gondola....

Epernay is the capital of the Champagne region and has some great scenary. We opted to stay on the only campsite in the area which also sold champagne on site at the small bar. The camping was quite private with individual pitches surrounded by small hedges and quite reasonably price.
