Day 1 spent in Colombo. Collected the hire car, quite daunting the driving here. Have to be looking in all directions to make sure that there are no tux-Tucs, motor cycles, cars or bikes trying to sneak in, buses and lorries are automatically allowed in due to size.

Took the train from mount Lavinia into the city! Visited a Hindu and 2 Buddhist temples along the way before being taken to a gem factory. Not really my scene but nevertheless entertained it.

Popped into the Pagoda for a cup of tea, this is where Duran Duran filmed one of their videos Hungry like a wolf! Very random!

Stopped of at the Dutch Hospiral which has been turned into trendy cafes and shops. Went to the tap bar thinking we would get a good beer but no they only had Tiger beer. Beer shortage in Sri Lanka apparently!

Train was interesting and very old but extremely cheap as it is heavily subsidised due to how poor people are.

Next stop Adams Peak for some hiking.
