New day - new probs. Bus day today as I have walked 35kms in last 3 days (not really by plan) so deserve a treat (and it's pouring) but bus doesn't leave until 130pm. So set myself up in a bar with a fire then realised the barman was coughing loudly all the time - no, no, I can't afford to get a cold so I am sitting outside the front door out of the rain actually perched in a rubbish bin in a little corner nook - tee hee - nice fit and I can still receive wifi :) It's Saturday 10am so I surprise all the local guys as they come into the bar off the street and catch sight of me. I also get to share air with all the smokers who come outside :( Wonder where the women socialise?
Found a little shop - the woman Tere is very kind and invites me to wait in the shop where it is warm. She chats to me in Spanish asking about NZ economy politics etc - I bumble away saying 'si' often. Then DISASTER - her husband says (with much gesticulating cithes and hoiches) the bus does not go to Hontanas as it is a little village (popn 90) in the wops - like trying to get Intercity bus from Nelson to Tapawera.
So I need to get a taxi from Burgos! Ha - que cera cera - now here I am at a delightful Albergue in Hontanas - 70 Euros - NZ$114 - easy done.
Will have to plan the next few days a bit better but may have to walk as the Camino is through countryside - no buses - hmmm.
Salmon for tea in the wops plus red wine - all good. Note church next door hugh and recently renovated but shut up - hope bells don't chime all night.
