After an excellent introduction by Mike, we set off on our own to explore more of Berlin. We headed back to the island of museums, hoping to look through the Pergamon, but the 2 hour queuing time was deterrent enough for us to keep walking. We made it back up to the Brandenburg Gate, hoping to get into the Reichstag building but alas this was also a bit too crowded, so we took some more photos and headed into the Tiergarten. After a little rest on a park chair, we saw the Gypsy and the Homosexual memorials and managed to avoid the numerous street mimes asking for our coins.
We made our way to Potsdamer Platz and the Sony centre. Great timing - because as we sat down at 'Josty' inside the Sony centre it started to pour down outside. We had some great food, practiced our beer pronunciations (schofferhoffen hefeweisen!!), and explored the Sony centre. We then headed up to the Panoramapunkt for some excellent views of Berlin. Experimented with some more coffee variations, latte macchiatos etc, caught up on some more history of Berlin then headed back to Adina, quite tuckered from our day out.
That night we went out to an Italian restaurant with Pat and Dave, next to Emma’s in the same Strasse. Excellent food again. Too tuckered to hunt down the Casino, we trotted back home.
