Today began with a trip down towards Frankfurt to visit Joe and Anke. Joe played in the same band as Dave in the Hamburg Days. It was so enjoyable to visit a traditional German house and feel like we were living like a true German for the day. Today we traveled into Belgium to go to yet another track. We went via the Rheinfels Castle. It is the ruins of a castle built in 1245. It was only conquered once – by Napoléon and he had it blown up in 1796 to prevent it becoming a threat again. Today we caught the ferry that was opposite the hotel. This morning we expressed our Balcony Envy to Sanga. Would you believe someone had cancelled and when we got home all of our stuff had been moved into the newly available room. When booking the rooms I didn't think we would worry about a balcony, but it makes the room so much more spacious and there is nothing more relaxing than watching the river flow by. We had a rush to get to our next destination – The Rhein in Flammen at Oberwesel. Our journey to Sankt Goar was about 4 hours. From there it was a quick freshen up to get to the train to the next town which was Oberwesel. Once at Oberwesel we had to pick up the tickets for the boat from within the wine festival.
