We found the local bus station and asked the driver to take us to the "cascadas" - luckily he understood my Spanish and told us when we needed to get off. We had to pay a small entrance fee and then it was a 20 minute hike to the waterfall. The place was beautiful and there were people rappelling down the waterfall while we were there! Woke up in our lovely hotel in Bogota and had breakfast prepared for us and then headed to the bus station to start the 8 hour journey to San Gil. Possibly the bumpiest bus journey ever, the drivers out here seem to have a death wish on the windy roads overtaking each other and hoping there's nothing coming! After another stressful time in Caracas airport we decided to miss our flight to Merida and see if we could get a flight out to Colombia. We found a flight later that day and decided to book the tickets and hope. With low expectations we went to check in online and there was our details - WE WERE GOING TO COLOMBIA!!
