After our overnight bus (which was freezing) we had a relaxing day at our lovely new hostel, enjoying the cooling pool and relaxing hammocks. After enjoying happy hour at the amazing Mexican restaurant next door and a second happy hour back at the hostel we were coaxed into a pool-playing drinking game with the losers having to 'spin the wheel'. Hopped on an early bus which took us to a quaint little town called Barichara where we had some breakfast and walked around the bumpy stone streets. We had a look in the Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción before starting the 10km hike to the next little town called Guane. The pathways here are pretty much random rocks in the ground and very up and down so constantly having to watch where you walk and tread carefully. 1hr and 40 minutes later in the blazing sun...

This morning we headed off with Colombia Rafting expeditions. Sharing the buoyant bright blue boat with fellow travellers from France and Italy we headed down a local river with grade 3 rapids. All our photos are on the go pro so this is a stolen pic to get an idea. The young female instructor was very enthusiastic, encouraging us all into the water to float through some rapids and pushed Sophie in twice! Lucky it was a stunning morning for it :)

Next we headed up a massive hill near Curiti where we went paragliding looking out over Chicamocha Canyon. Again poor quality pic as everything is on camera but this is Soph and her guide doing acrobatics in the air. Was an awesome experience with an amazing, very green view over huge tobacco farms. We saw open sheds on the drive up where the tobacco leaves are dried.

After visiting the waterfall we got back into town and headed to the Parque El Gallineral which is a beautiful park by the riverside. The trees are covered with long silver fronds which give it an Avatar kind of feel :) Had a wander around there and then sat in the restaurant and enjoyed some Colombian beer before heading out for dinner.
