Well folks..Let me think what to say about phuket..in a word? SLEAZY! the beach here is overcrowded..we have had our first encouter with some lady boys and most of the western tourists we have seen are over 40..male..with a beer belly and a young Thai girl on their arm.. this wouldn't be so bad if we wern't being cracked onto by them in clubs..think they might be losing there sense of reality a wee bit out here! okay enough of my ranting about the not so nice side of Thailand ..we have used Puket as a base and have been out to see the James Bond Island (i believe this was used to film the man with the golden gun. We have done some more Kayaking around the mangroves and caves off the North East coast of Puket. We also went to visit a Muslim fishing village in this area that was entirly built upon sticks against an island...this was an amazing place where the platforms were often just made out of thin tree branches bound together with rope..no barriers...small children helping there fathers to fish for Crab/lobster we got a wicked shot of a horse shoe crab on the video! (scary) and all of this set against the most spectacular back drop.
