So I have been dreading writing this entry because I am trying to stay positive. Oh we'll. the long and the short of it is, Lisbon is full of dickheads. I got my pockets dipped not long after I wrote my last entry and I am not happy about it. The damage was 300€. On the up side I only took cash with me and I don't have to deal with the issues of replacing cards etc from the other side of the globe. The morning after this happened I left Lisbon post haste riding north. I got to a campsite in nazare and knocked a Valium into me and slept off my annoyance. I woke the next morning with one plan. Get out of this country before I lose the plot and belt someone. I did this and made tracks for the tranquil shores of Galicia. Much better. Was probably just mental, but I was happier for it. Aldan was the camping spot that came up trumps. A nice seaside town. The view across the bay was always partly cloaked in fog that rolls about curtaining the city across the water and the floating oyster beds that are everywhere on the water. After I pitched my tent and unpacked my stuff I got on the bike and headed the 4 Kms down the hill to a little bar and ate some of the local food. Octopus in olive oil salted and spiced with paprika and deep fried little fish. Tasty. Comfort food. Upon my return I sat and had a few beers with the kid who was running the campground and retired to my tent. Slept well and rolled out of bed at 9:30 this morning. The plan today was to head towards San Sebastián. I got a few hundred Kms along the coast, avoiding highways and ended up where I am right now. Outeiro is a quiet beach town with white sandy shores and decent surf breaking. This coast is not packed with tourists and rows of sun beds like you find in the med. it is a little more in keeping with what I am used to in beaches. It is probably due to the daytime maximums at the moment around 24•C. Another thing I noticed on my ride was the amount of eucalyptus trees. I am guessing that they are introduced. There are a lot. I had dinner at a restaurant overlooking the beach and did a bit of talking to a Spanish kid working behind the bar who was keen on practicing his English with me. Nothing special, a heavier meal of pork loin and chips. All washed down with a couple of Estrella Galicia beers whilst watching the moto gp live from the USA. It was dark by the time I left for my tent and a quick walk down the road saw me there. I got talking to a German couple (they thought I was German because of my number plate - happens a lot) and they were on their way to ride bikes around Galicia for two weeks. Just being Europeans. There is a lot of foot and bicycle traffic on the roads here. Most are pilgrims from France and north Spain, who are on their way to Santiago De Compostela. Supposedly the burial place of the apostle James.
