It's been an eventful week. Sara was slowed down by rolling her ankle. Luckily we are staying in the middle of Split so there is no lack of things to do only a short hobble away. Every morning started with loading her on the bike and riding to a beach for a dip in the clear blue Aegean Sea. Then back home for lunch and a nap. Followed by dinner and a drink or two at a cafe nearby. I have been talking with the owner of the apartment (Niki) we are calling home. He took it upon himself to see that we did not miss out on the Dalmatia experience and invited us out to his weekender on the island. I did not need to be convinced. We packed up and headed to the ferry dock. An hour later we were at the port of Sepetar. Sara was feeling up for a ride so we headed across the island to Bol. This is a popular holiday destination where Europeans head to fry their skin and swim. In that order. Lots of activity. After a swim and a quick rest we headed back to meet Nikis son who works at a cafe on the water. He took us the house which overlooks a quiet bay. Dropped our stuff and headed to the village for dinner. Perfect place with a breakwater and fishing and recreational boats. We slept well and met Niki the next morning (yesterday) and had lunch/breakfast/dinner with them local wine, brandy and produce. Friends dropped by and the piano in the corner was cranked up. A lady who must have been in her mid 70s belted out old gypsy songs. good times and great company. At midnight we went for a guided walk around the village and little port. A full day by anyone's standards. Got up late today and strolled down for a dip and went for a ride along the coast. Nothing too wild as I am only wearing boardiies and sneakers. Just stopped in to splitska for a coffee and Internet. We are not allowed to leave until Toni (Nikis wife) has cooked the tuna on a plank. Could be tricky getting away from our hosts and their amazing hospitality.
