Ross and Natalie's Travel Journal
So our time in Laos where coming to an end and we where trying to get to the border to cross to Thailand. Easily enough we found a friendly Laos man that said he will drive us to the border in his 4x4 Nissan. We knew the road was rough and still being built but nothing could prepare us for the day ahead. The first couple of hours went fine...little slippy in the mud here and there. We reached a small hill where a local bus was stuck (for the last 14 hours) in the mud blocking the road ahead. Thank god we got the 4x4 we thought and our driver passed around the bus up a steep hill and on the fourth go we made it ... about 8 more Laos got on the back cause the bus was not going anywhere soon! and then the gear box broke and that was that...no movement...we though we where going to have to camp over in the brown sticky mud and miss the boat to Thailand!! but...we where saved by another 4x4 and he happily took us on as passengers and we reached the border just in time...hallelujah!!
