We then headed for a riverside town, Kampot...it is one of the prettiest places in Cambodia influenced with many French designs. From here we went on a day trip to a deserted hill station and hotel at the top of a mountain. The journey there was not for the soft hearted, it took three hours on a back of a 4 wheel drive going at the speed of light...s***ting ourselves all the way. After spending alot of time in the city's of Cambodia the craving for beach life kicked in. We went to Cambodia's most popular beach resort, Sihnoukville (try to pronounce that!). There are long stretches of sandy shores surrounded by a series of mountain ranges. We spent 3 days here in the slow-paced ambiance eating fresh seafood and got hassled by Cambodian kids trying to sell bracelets of all kinds.

We are in Phnom Pen at the moment (capital of Cambodia) and visited the Grand Palace and the National Museum. It is very sad to see the vast wealth of the King in contrast to the poverty stricken nation. They say that it is changing though. Today was a very emotional day, we visited the Genocide Museum and The Killing Field's. It took us 15 hours on a bus to get to Cambodia. The road on Cambodia side is terrible...it is like driving on dirt tracks in 1920 with pot holes every where...we where properly shaken not stirred for 5 hours (nice line emma).
