Namaste from Rainy Manali,
So Tabbi and I have done sme good shopping in Manali, there are quite a few touristy shops and it is a very chilled out place. We think we must be the only non-israeli people here, and we here it is the same the further north we go. We have decided not to go to Leh, as it doest seem worth the two day bus ride to get there, risking Acute Mountain Sickness on our feeble little chests! We are going to go to Mcloed Ganj tomorrow on a bus for 10 hours, which is where the Dalai Lama lives, although I have already looked on his website and he is goping to be in Finland while we are there. Having said that, all the buses out of Manali were cancelled today becuase the rain has been too bad, so we have to go and foind out first thing in the morning if our bus will be leaving in the morning, otherwise we will be stranded here for a bit longer. We have had lots of rain the past few days, infact it has rained continuously today. There are lots of waterfalls in the valley sides which have become fuller and there are now even more waterfalls. The town here has lots of Tibetan looking people, and has very steep valley sides with apple orchards on the valley floor, it is simply beautiful.
Yesterday Tabbi and I went to go Paragliding. We got in the back of a jeep, which was more than the adrenaline rush we needed for a day! We were stod up in the back holding on for dear life trying not to fall of the back as our driver hurtled us up the mountain sides with sheer sides and very bumpy roads. It was one of those 'we are probably going to die here so lets just laugh our heads off' moments. We arrrived and then got horses to take us further up the mountain, which although we thought would be fun, really wasnt, as our horses struggled to clime the extrememly steep hills on very wet and what might as well have been ice mud. It became so dangerous that we decided to get off and walk, and we had to everntually get back on the hroses as even we couldnt manage to climb the mountain. Literally one of the scariest things i have ever done! Then we got to the top and had to wait for a couple of hours under a tree for the mist and rain to clear before we could do our paraglide. The glide itself was amazing, even more special for Tabbi as it was her first one (i did one in Cape Town). I took a video of the flight and will try to upload it asap.
Today it has rained all day so we stayed in bed most of it and watched films and stayed warm.
Lots of love for now.
