Hi Everyone,
I am writing from a town Called Udaipur, which is a pretty little down surrounding a large lake. We go a bus here from Pushkar a couple of days ago. I really like this town, it is much cleaner and less noisy than some of the other places i have been to. This morning we are getting a taxi to the next town, Jodhpur.
Yesterday we got a boat trip around the huge lake where there is a floating hotel in the middle. The town is very famous becuase it was in the James bond film Octop**** The hotel in the middle is a five star hotel and the likes of us didnt go on it., but we peered in from the outside like paupers. After the boat trip we wondereed round the town and went to the City Palace which was nice but not as impressive as some of the other palaces we have been to so far.
What is quite funny about india is that there are cows everywhere. they are just in the middle of the street and no one ever seems to move them, people just drive round them. they eat out the rubbish ( i was going to say bins but there are none, they eat the rubbish off the floor) and are so placid, they just sit there. We then wondered round the town for a bit when all of a sudden I got attacked by a cow! I was walking down the street and a cow crossed the road and just attacked me! It head butted my tummy and then head butted my side lifting me off my feet. Rawdon wrestled the cow by then head to try and get it off me and a local man ran over and give it a good smack before it ran away. It was totally bazaar. I have a good bruise on my hip and some grazes on my arm and toe (where it stood on my foot!). My bruise still hurts a bit but I was more shocked than anything as It could have been much worse, i didn tthink the cow was going to stop at one point. After some recovery and laughter we carried on walking down the street and saw another cow, and jokingly i put Rawdon in front of me so the next one would go for him instead, and then it did! luckily it just lunged at him, but was so surprising as of all the millions of cows I have seen in india, i have only ever seen them sit, eat or walk. That second a western couple came up to us and the man had a ripped shirt and another cow had attacked him! Three seperate cow attacks in one street at the same time. Was so weird. Its funny now but at the time it was pretty scary.
I figured that the gods were angry at me because I had laughted at a shrine earlier (which was just a blob with eyes to be fair, it did look pretty funny) so we bought some pens and gave them out to the local children (which they went absolutely nuts for). hopefully now our bad karma has been resolved. goking to buy some more pens just in case. Last night we then watched octop**** in a restaurant.
