Hello from Jodhpur!
We left Udaipur and decided to get a taxi rather than two buses and a train, so was luxury for us. It was a six an half hour journey and was about 530km along windy country roads with that constant 'oh dear i'm about to die' feeling as you overtake on a blind bend into oncoming trucks. Got to see some really beautiful countryside and we stopped off at a really beautiful Jain temple on the way. We arrived in Jodhpur which is dominated by a huge fort built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the city. The city is called the blue city, because many of the houses are washed blue, so it looks pretty stunning.
In the evening we walked around the old city and met lots of very cute local children who kept asking us to take their photo and show it to them, so cute!!!!! unfortunately we have run out of pens to give them and it is surprisingly difficult to find someone who sells pens to buy, probably why the children want them so much.
Today we went to the Post office to post a beautiful blue and gold quilt that i bought in Jaipiur That i have been dragging around with me everywhere, which was a polava as I had to find someone to get the parcel wrapped in cloth and stiched, then fill out a form and get that photocopied, and then finally post it. Whoich cost more than the actual quilt cost to buy. oh dear! then we went to the Fort which dominates the city.
Tomorrow we are getting another taxi to Jaisalamer as again there are no direct trains, so tomorrow will be another day spent on bumpy roads!
Toodles for now
