Greetings! Arrived in Hanoi last night for the final stop of our Vietnamese Tour after the single most disturbing train journey of both our young lives...! I suppose i could be exaggerating a little, but let's just say that the 13 hour trip didn't get off to the greatest of starts when Rachel took her seat to find a dirty nappy on the floor by her feet... and it went downhill from there! Babies weeing on the floor (albeit trying to hit their potty), old people snotting on the floor, left-over food and rubbish everywhere on the floor... this was first-class travel Vietnam-style!!! Hard to believe that we'd actually paid for the most expensive seats we could. God only knows what the cheap ones were like!!!! Never again, fortunately!
The views from the train helped to lessen the pain of the journey and it was great to see so much of the countryside and people at work on their land and in the fields. It was the first journey we'd really done in the daytime and we're glad we did it, even if the level of comfort was a bit different!
We now have 3 days to enjoy Hanoi, though we've been greeted again by light drizzle, so we're waiting it out in a cafe, busy arranging our trip to Laos on Friday, which should be fab AND, hopefully, warmer than the last few days!
See you soon! x
