Quick hello from Hoi An where there's not much to update you on other than to say that it's raining here and the picture attached to this blog is where we're going to be in less than 2 weeks... not where we are now, sadly!!!!
Overnight train journey wasn't too bad, although the a/c was so cold i was concerned that rachel had lost the will to live by about 5am! Her face was a picture as she emerged from under 2 blankets with her kagool hood drawn snuggly around her face, clearly wishing she was somewhere else instead! All was well with our room mates until the vietnamese gentleman below me decided to celebrate our imminent arrival in Hoi An with a cigarette at 5.30am!!! Like a flash, i swung down from my bunk, slammed the door open and turned all the lights on! He slipped from the room with his tail between his legs and finished his smoke at the end of the corridor... 1 - 0 to the (self) righteous!!!
Despite the weather, Hoi An is a pretty stop off on our way north, though the tiny old streets look more appealing illuminated at night than they do in the grey mizzle (lincolnshire word invented by my dad!) of the daytime.
We're back on the bus tomorrow morning for a 4 hour skip up to Hue where we stay for the night before embarking on a 13 hour train journey north to Hanoi on Monday. Fingers crossed only 4 more days of inclement weather before we're wishing it was a lot less hot in Laos!!!
Bon weekend!
