Hi there. Made it to Laos from Hanoi yesterday without incident. I'd done sufficient research on the Fokker F70 to have some confidence in its ability to fly us safely into Luang Prabang and sure enough it was fine. A dutch made airplane used primarily by KLM and Air Austria for Regional air travel, the F70 is a step on from the original F100 and began production in 1990 with two options for the flight deck to choose from! And it takes off and lands without bursting into flames, which is a definite plus. Thank Fokk for that!
Trying to escape the drizzly Vietnam weather we were greeted with a downpour for about 4 hours yesterday, but by the end of the afternoon the sun was out and today has been gorgeous. Luang Prabang is beautiful, nestled between jungle, river and mountains, full of gorgeous old buildings, it's a fab spot.
Heading on to Vang Viang tomorrow morning from where we may engage in the great Laotian tradition of "tubing"... namely, floating down the Mekong river in a tractor inner-tube for 3 or 4 kilometres!!! Rachel says we'll see what the weather is like before she gets her bikini on again!!!
Hope all is well! xxx
