We met up with Roses dad and brother and got on a small plane that took us from mainland Greece to Paros. Boy… was it a rough landing that day – due to the strong winds!!! We landed in Paros 30 mins later. That day was apparently one of the windiest day they have had this year! This is us – in the back of a hired Jimny..a whole lot of 4wd in a small sized car body!! Ros – hot and windy This is a bakery just near the airport – Aliki Bakery – apparently a regular family tradition for the Featherby family who have been coming almost every year since 2000….her dad since…1987 Spinach pies are apparently the go from this bakery….everything there looked good!!! This was our accommodation in at Manoli’s – above Manoli’s restaurant. Manoli is a guy who owns nearly half of that street full of restaurants, cafes and accommodation! We stayed here for 4 nights Ros unpacking and ready to go to the beach!!!! Shortly after we were off to the beach – a tradition Ros and her family share each time they come to Paros which Pol was more than pleased to be a part of – except finding shade was a difficult task for Pol as she is not one to be in the sun for long periods of time. First swim in the Mediterranean. The water is crystal clear and cool…stunning! Featherby family tradition goes (which Pol has been initiated into - she passed the test with flying colours) – Eat breakfast, go to the beach to swim and relax. Eat lunch then go to the beach again for a relax session. Eat dinner and drink..then sleep. Here are a few pics from the days that followed; View from our balcony at sunset Pol - View from the second story – on top of Manoli’s restaurant was our accommodation. Check Ros out!! Thalassamou – where the owners – Anna and Marios, who is the head chef – greeted us with the most warming welcome. We ate dinner here most nights. The food is out of this world amazing. Thank you for your hospitality Anna and Marios…it was a time to remember! This is Ros’s dad and Anna…Marios found a dead scorpion between cushions earlier that day and decided it would be funny to prepare a canapé style scorpion for anna to try and see if it is a good dish for customers – amid peak service! This is the crew – Ros, Marios, Anna, Ros’s dad and Ros’s Brother Look at these Peanuts….roasting in the sun! Another day at the beach! Note the empty spot – Pol’s – adequately shaded- The odd peanut out! Pol managed to find shelter from the sun under various shades of trees, and where shade could not be found; she covered herself in towels. Little dude is watching… underwater shots of the pebble beach we were on in the pic above.. Behind us there are octopus…hanging up to dry in the open. The island has minimal flies so they don’t bother about covering food that much. Definitely couldn’t do this in the Aussie outback!!!! This was a funny afternoon!!! We decided to go biscuiting – we each had a blow up, big floating boogie board with handles to hold on to while we all, at the same time, were pulled by a speed boat (the outboard engine on that boat was ancient!!!)…. Final stacking it stats: Ros's dad 5, Robbie 2, Pol 3 and the winner.....Ros who only flew off once! Ros and her Bro - sunset “act happy!” – check out Ros’s red nose!!! This Ros, her family, Anna and Marios at their restaurant (different night) One of the many Greek Orthodox churches on the island Jimny again ..heading to a beach..check out Ros’s dad! The views between traveling either to / from a restaurant or beach Ros…blowing up a floating bed…then shortly after..on the floor..tough job! Popular beach game – two wooden racquets and a ball! – usually not done on another's head but at a distance..kind of like tennis except you don’t want the ball to land on the sand…it won’t bounce. Check Ros….way out!!!! And its relitevely shallow for most of the way out. Naoussa Naoussa Naoussa – where we had cocktails on the waters edge. Beautiful atmosphere; relaxed. This little kitten was found after her mother was poisoned – the kittens eyes were both infected from a young age. This kitten is now blind. A lovely lady who works/owns one of the clothing stores in Naoussa is known for taking refuge cats and dogs in and finds a home for them. Ros – Drios where we had dinner that night. It was cat city… We forgot this parrot’s name…it was something apt to the bird species. This guy is owned by the owner of the speed boat with the ancient engine. Ros's kitty impersonation - free entertainment! Last morning in Paros. All good things come to an end.
