Hello everyone on the outside. The picture for this blog is rather significant. A bird that can fly, possibly return but currently cannot see real well so is sitting still. The fact that the photo was taken in Bahrain is also significant.
This could be my last entry from Saudi Arabia. I am leaving on my midyear leave to England this evening at 8pm. My driver will take me over the causeway to Bahrain (link to picture) where I will fly (link to picture) to London on Gulf Air.
I was given an offer from Mareita to entice me to at least resign formally. But this offer I will discuss with Pippa before making a firm decision. So watch this space for more details.
I have sent a heap of stuff home and have one small suitcase here and a backpack to protect the laptop. After all the flights I have taken my one and only travel tip is, take as little as possible onto the plane. There is no room in the overhead lockers. Travel essentials, 1 passport, 1 book, 1 wallet, 1 ticket all per person.
As far as the rest of the significance to the picture. If I choose not to return to Saudi I have stage 2 of the big adventure. I cannot see what will happen (link to picture) but what I want more than anything is to sit still for a while with Pippa and Anouk. (Link to picture).
After I make the decision I will put my final Saudi entry on the blog. An entry I will not load unless I have no desire to ever enter the country again. Most entries in Saudi are censored.
So I need now to put my resignation letter in, clean my flat, deliver a bit of furniture and say Good Bye to people in case I never come back. This part of the "Rod in Arabia & England" has been a roller coaster of experience and I will take some good memories with me.

John C Rod - you CANNOT be this indefinite at this stage .... can you? Good Luck Mate
Trudy Good Luck my friend with whatever your decision may be, but I know the decision you make will be the right one for you. It has been an honor and a privilege to share some of your journey. Good luck Rod and I look forward to the next installment
Madhu I am stayed glued for the next installment. Be safe and a big hug to Pippa from Rachel and I.
Greg Woohoo!!!
Rani Rod, you sound torn in some way - i am not sure why. You have done soooooo well in surviving this far - far more than what many others would have probably coped with. All my thoughts are with you and lots of love, for whatever the next step is in your journey you should be well aware that you have the support of all of your friends and family. xxxx
Rani Ps, how on earth do you even imagine Anouk will sit still!! or actually even Pip? hehehe
Katia Moura Ah, don't you love an uncertain future...makes life feel like an adventure ! Enjoy it ! And tell Pippa to stop being a stranger, she doesn't go on skype anymore and did not reply to email !
Tina Fantastic news for you Rod, and no matter what you choose to do it is certainly one door opening and one door closing. Say g'day to Pip for us, I'm not sure who's the most hypo ... her or Anouk, I can just imagine everyone in the airport will notice when you touch-down. Its been fascinating for us to get a glimpse into an otherwise never imagined world, thanks for keeping us all a part of it, and enjoy your break in the snow.
