A quick blog to sum up my birthday. I had fun, all be it a quiet day, Adele unfortunately got called into work at the last minute and could not make it and Kellie was rostered on. But Trudy, Lebo, Marbika and I had a really great meal at Bona Banana on the Khobar Kornaish.
This restaurant is worth a visit and I shall add it to the review from a few blogs ago. But essentially is has nice food and a wide variety. The numbering of the menu is creative with no page 9 but two page 7s to make up for it. There is also pages 1-3 at each end of the menu.
Marbika ordered the lamb ribs which were mistaken for kebabs and my double macchiato had an inch of foamed milk on top. Otherwise the food was scrumptious and well priced.
The bamboo screen behind behaved for the afternoon and did not fall on anybody's head. Outside was sunny and the Kornaish was not too crowded so all the views down to the Bahrain Causeway were wonderful.
After lunch Trudy and I went to the Al Raminiyah Souk to see if the rug shops were open. A few were and I bought myself a door rug. It hangs across the door frame with woollen tassels that hang like a curtain. We saw some other souvenirs and a few tempting things. But the heat gets to you very quickly so we called it a day and rang Hamja.
Yesterday we went to Dharhan Mall for the EID sales but apparently it is too hot to come to work so the sales are all at night. It really is a guessing game as when to shop. But after 8pm and before 2am seems good.
But I had an interesting few days off for my birthday. Perhaps not the most exciting, certainly no hope of a Shiraz...or Singapore Sling as some will have on their birthday. I hope the person in question does at least have the Singapore Sling in Raffles.
Thank you to everyone who sent texts and emails it made the day even better.
