'Six degrees of separation so you're not getting my raisin toast' This was actually a thought that Faye and I referred to Jazz at a coffee shop in Kingston when she tried to convince me to give her my raisin toast. I explained that I knew Pippa, who knew Anouk, who knew Brave, who was my dog and knew how to beg. But as Brave never got my raisin toast, neither would Jazz. (See the album for more details)
Actually the reason I have not been blog updating in the last couple of weeks was there was nothing happy to report. But yesterday I had a successful interview with Queanbeyan Hospital and Calvary gave me full time shifts for the next 2 months. So my mood has picked up and for the first time since returning to Australia I actually can see me getting back to England.
Also I caught up with friends. I saw Henry, have had several lunches with Alex, dinner last night with Yas and John and saw Yas very pregnant waiting the big day. Anzac Day of all days.
Last weekend I went to the model Railway Expo. I have been on a few other occasions but this year the new venue was Kaleen High School Hall. It was better as you wandered between rooms and got to get closer to the exhibits. Some were definitely 'models' while some were extravagant 'train sets'. I actually liked the train sets as their builders are not locked into the absolute accuracy of a particular day in a particular year. But I can appreciate the precision of the models. Sydney Central in 1938 was brilliant and Eddie Ave had trolley buses and the park opposite still had the Band Stand.
Otherwise I have not been doing a lot, but I am starting work tonight at Calvary ER so money will come in and Immigration Form will soon go out, along with IELTS exam and NHS registration. Perhaps I will get back to England in August, but I am realistically aiming to have my 42nd birthday in England, so September is perhaps a slightly more realistic goal.
I am hoping to get to Beechworth for the Harvest Festival in May and if things go really well financially it would be good to get out to Alice Springs to see John and Trudy. But the main goal is back to England with a savings account.
