We managed to find an awesome spot right next to the lake to call home for the night. Whilst we were there we met our neighbours who kindly had some spare fresh salmon which we greatfully accepted for our dinner. We all went down to the lake just before sunset and did a little fishing with their rods...Rich was a little disappointed that he didnt have a trout on the line within 20 mins but the 3 rainbows and amazing sunset more than made up for it! We also met a couple who had converted what looked like an old bus into a campervan...whilst being on the road they a had had a baby so needed the extra space! So after our fishing extravaganza we headed over to their bus with a $7 bottle of wine- NZ equivalent to a local wine bar!....And it sure beat Goon for a change! The next day we took to the road after a quick climb to the top of Mt Jon to see the spectacular views. On our travels south we past the most beautiful church we'd ever seen, straight out over the alter you could see a glacier fed mirror lake with snow capped mountains towering above it! Our next stop off was at a salmon farm... we collected our salmon food and headed down to the holding pens...we caused an absolute frenzy as we tip a full tub of food into one pen and the salmons jumped and dived for their share. We also watched some young lads fish for salmon, it was a sure thing as they were doing it directly out of the pens! They caught a huge 4kilo salmon and proceeded to wack it over the headed and take it home for dinner!
