Slow start today.  Decided to head to Joshua Tree National Park. Driving along we kept seeing these cabbage like trees. They were everywhere.  When we finally got the the park we found out that these were in fact Joshua Trees, and the reason people come. Also if we didn't know how to rock climb the there wasn't much to see. It was a very hot dessert, with rattlesnakes and scorpions according to the booklet.  We didn't spend enough time outside to see any of these, way to whimpy for that.

Drove though observing all the trees and then carried on driving to San Diego.  We arrived at Ken and Marleen ' s just on dinner time. Marleen is a daughter of Gran Crowleys (nee Dempsey) sister Kathleen. She is a magnificent cook, we ate like queens with chicken encalatas and spent the night getting to know them. Their oldest daughter is named after Aunty Bernadette, who visited just before she was born.

Marleen could easily be another aunty. She is so lovely. She won't even let us help with the dishes or any of the housework. I also found out that she is a really good seamstress. We are very happy not to be in the van. The Snooks live right next to the San Diego airport. So every 10 minutes there is a plane taking off over their house.  Man it is loud,  so not adapted to that!
