Two months since I left New Zealand. Man have done a lot in that time. So happy with my decision to take a year off. You can do so much in that time.
Today we woke up in hopefully one of our last walmarts. Noticed the sign that stated no over night camping. Luckily we didn't get in trouble. Drove to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. I expected it to be breathtaking but really it was Canyonland on grander scale. Still incredible though when you think it took 6 billion years to make. And that every year the Colorado River gauges out more rock to the thickness of a piece of paper.
Visited the Desertview Watchtower, and then got on a shuttle where we were able to get off and look at the view of the canyon at multiple places. Cooked our dinner of nachos in the visitor carpark. Here we established that the Las Vegas isn't just 2 hours away it's more like 5 and we wouldn't see the Hoover Dam in light. Made it to the Hoover Dam 15 minutes after the gate closed. Carried onto Las Vegas.
Absolutely breathtaking when we came over the hill and seen all the lights. In the distance we could see what we thought was the Eiffel Tower. As we got closer to our accomadation we joked that the big Sky tower like building might be where we were staying. Shockingly it was!!!! We all thought we had it wrong and would have to pay massive bills but it was only USD $220 for four night between us all. We have access to a gym, pool, the look out in the tallest building in the city, shops, a casino, restaurants and fast food outlets and of course bars. All we wanted was a place to shower and a proper bed. This is bloody awesome. By the time we checked in it was 12 am so we just went to bed.
