Here in San Deigo we stayed with my mums cousin Marleen and her Husband Ken. I had never meet either of them but they were extremely inviting and made us all feel like we were at home. Marleen treated us like Queens. She cooked us home cooked meals that we had only dreamed about it the van. We had burgers, encalatas, stirfrys and spaghetti bolangese. Plus homemade muesli and ice cream cookies to name some of the treats. She also organised a family BBQ for us to meet the family who were around. I greatly appreciated the all out hospitality that was given to us.
And I haven't started on our activities. We went to San Diego Zoo to watch the amazing hippopotamus play in the water, the polar bears, pandas and so Bridgette could eat some lettuce with her family of girrafes. Then we went to SeaWorld to meet Shermi the most incredible Orca Whale and the dolphins and seals who's tricks mesmerized us all day. We explored the ocean beach, shelter island and the Colorado Brewing Company. Finally we ventured across the border with cousin Steve to Trujillo in Mexico for a bit of extra culture.
What an awesome 4 days, we seen so much, learnt what it is like to live in the path of an international airport and lucky enough to meet many of my relations. Marleen could easily have been an Aunty of mine with her sewing, cooking and motherlyness. I'm glad we were able to meet.
