An early start and straight into Bundaberg to the tourist information centre. There we worked out what we were going to do for the day.
From the information centre we headed to Bundaberg Rum Distillery for a factory tour. Bundaberg Rum was started in the exact location it is today back in 1888. The tour was really interesting. Included in the tour are drinks at the end. I just couldn't find a rum or liquour I liked. Mandy liked the salted carmel and passion fruit liquour. Much to their disappointment the kids had soft drink. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take cameras on the tour.
We had read about a popular fresh seafood restaurant and market called Grunske's By The River. So we decided to endulge ourselves and have a wide range of seafood for lunch. This was great, eating seafood whilst sitting out on a deck overlooking the Burnett River.
Following lunch we went to Bundaberg Brewed Drinks. There we did an interactive tour which was a little disappointing. It would have been much better if they did factory tours like Bundaberg Rum.
Anyhow Bundaberg Brewed Drinks was founded in 1960 and makes craft brewed premium soft drinks and ginger beer. The business is owned by an Australian family. Since 2006, Bundaberg has been exporting its brewed drinks to over 32 countries. We sampled their 17 different types of drink they produce onsite.
