We are near the end if our first week in London - leaving early Saturday for the Eurostar to Paris!! We arrived late Saturday taking the tube from heathrow to pimlico a little city just south of Westminster!! After a quick bite at a cute English pub down the road we got an early night ready for the week ahead of site seeing!! The last few days we have visited all of the main tourist attractions; buckingham palace, changing of the guards, Westminster Abbey, big Ben, houses of parliament, to name a few. We did a tour of the old city of London and rode on the London eye!! Yesterday we took the tube out to st johns wood home of the famous abbey rd studios and walked across the famous crossing along with everyone else annoying the cars and trucks that rode by!! After we got the candid shot we headed off for s tour of Lords - the highlight of Evan's trip!! The tour consisted of the players change rooms, the long room, the grandstand and the museum - where we witnessed the original Ashes urn!! Today we strolled through Hyde park and Kensington gardens and then walked through Kensington palace - if anyone can shed some light on the who Queen Elizabeth's mother is would be awesome as I believe it's queen Victoria but ev has assured me it's not!! All in all everything has been great and we are starting to enjoy hostel life :) check out fb for photos!! Xx

Peter Bendeich Ran Ev is right - the queens mother was Queen Elizabeth I - also known as the "Queens Mother" - Victoria lived at the turn of the century - so keep learning - just imagine when you get back home your education will be enchanced big time. Pierre
Kate Hi, I hope you don't mind me posting as I'm a stranger and it's a couple of years after your blog post! The Queen's mother was not Elizabeth I (Elizabeth I died in 1603!) nor Victoria (who died in 1901). She was called Elizabeth though, was queen consort of George VI and was known as the 'Queen Mother' subsequent to his death to distinguish her from her daughter Elizabeth II, the current Queen.
