It's 7:22pm and I am currently on the ferry leading me from Lombok Island to Sumbawa Island. I am watching "Commando," the great Arnold Schwarzenegger classic, with 250 other Indonesians. Let's recap the day up to this point.

2:30pm - I board the bus, at the scheduled time, that will take me across Lombok Island.

4:00pm - Bus actually leaves station.

7:05pm - Board ferry

and now it's 7:35, still on "Comanndo". Arnold looks pissed about something.

Okay, I'll continue with the rest of the evening.

8:33pm - Alrighty, now I return to the same bus, now on Sumbawa Island. It's pitch black outside now, and the stars are so vivid tonight.

8:41pm - A man near the front of the bus lihts a cigareete, right in front of the "Tidak Merokok" sign. (No smoking) - Did I mention that there are no windows on this bus.

8:58pm - The man lights another cigarette : (

9:55pm - The driver lights a cigarette.

10:13pm - I ask the driver for dinner, he points ahead.

10:32pm - We stop abruptly, the driver jumps out, grabs food and drives before I can leave the bus.

11:44pm - My leg is cramping, I extend it and smashes into the seat in front of me, slicing thewound on my knee.

12:00am - The boy sitting next to me falls asleep on my shoulder and starts snoring.

12:10am - We stop for dinner.

12:34am - We go back on the bus, driver starts ignition and bus starts smoking. Everyone is yelling and begins to shove to get off the bus. The occupants jump off the bus in a panic.

12:39am - The power in the restaurant goes out while we wait for the bus to be repaired.

12:41am - The power is restored!

12:42am - Power out again....s***.

Now it's 12:56am and I am still sitting in the restaurant.

It's such a "timeless place" here. I ponder that as I watch the clock above the cashier move forward a few seconds, then backwards a few seconds in a continuous manner. What to do? I love how they have no regard for others, smoking right in front of my face.

4:11am - Stop for a 30 minute smoking break - and that a****** on the bus just keeps smoking on the bus.

7:13am- We arrive in Bima and they tell me I've missed the connecting bus. I wonder why. And the next day was absolute hell.
