We started the day with a nice bowl of seasonal fruit, muesli and yoghurt. This we thought we be the high point for the awful night bus in the evening. You soon learn not to believe a word you're told by these travel agents but the bus (no transfers) should take us south to a city on the mainland then we board a one hour boat to Ko Phangan, we'll see we thought!
Although the service stations in Thailand don't seem to extortionate we stocked up on snacks for the journey in Bangkok while we had some spare time.
We were picked up from the travel shop as planned at 6 pm not by a bus but by a Thai guy on a pink motorbike who marched us for 10 minutes through Bangkok, pretty funny really, but straight away the schedule advertised had changed.
The bus was actually OK, no bed but plenty of room in our seats. They even put on a movie which we could actually see and hear, The Departed, which wasted a few hours. At 6 am we were dropped off at a cafe, the bags were literally thrown off the bus and it sped away. Confused at what was happening, the canteen staff "helpfully" advised we must stay there, spend 10p a time for the toilet, buy breakfast, and wait for a connecting bus. Needless to stay, in retaliation Tom pissed on their wall and Rachael sat with her legs crossed! Ha!
The connecting bus was a wreck and took an hour and a half to arrive, these guys really do their best to make a journey bad. We then sat around waiting for the boat, when it arrived we then took a further 2 hours to get to the island.
