I got up around 9am and walked into the city to go and use the internet to check my emails. Then I went back to our apartment to get ready as I am being picked up for the Port Douglas tour at 10.55am. Gina decided not to do this day trip as she wanted to do white water rafting on Barron River at 2pm. The day trip is with a company called APT. I got picked up from Cascade Gardens and then we picked up some more people on the way. It took an hour to get to Port Douglas. We travelled along the Captain Cook Highway, one of Australia's most scenic coastal drives. We headed to the Rainforest Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary for 2 and a half hours. It's Australia's leading environmental wildlife experience and we had a guided tour through the three wildlife environments depicted: the Rainforest, the Wetlands and the Grasslands. We saw koalas, birds, kangaroos, snakes, crocodiles, wombats etc. Lunch was included and we enjoyed an all you can eat hot buffet. There was loads of food to choose from. The Lorikeets were flying around the lunch area as well. At 2.30pm we were taken into the township of Port Douglas. Port Douglas is an international celebrity hotspot and popular film location. We were shown a lookout area of the Four Mile Beach and we could stop briefly to take some photos. Then we had a tour of the town and was shown where the harbour and access to the beach was. We stopped at the St Mary's by the Sea church which is the most popular place in Australia to get married in. It has gorgeous views at the altar. Then we were dropped off down Macrossan street and had around 3 hours to explore Port Douglas. I walked down to the end of Macrossan street where I found Four Mile Beach. I had a walk along the beach. It was so beautiful. Then I had a look in the many boutique shops along Macrossan street stopping for a bit for a coffee and cake in a cafe. Then I went to see the harbour and spent some time here. We got picked up from Central Hotel at 6pm. We drove back to Cairns and I got taken back to Cascade Gardens. It was around 7pm when I got back. Gina had a good afternoon white water rafting. We watched Neighbours and Home & Away on the TV. They are 6 weeks ahead from the UK. We chilled out in the evening and then went to bed.
