The last couple of days Kerry has been staying with us in the apartment. She has been handing out her CV to bars and restaurants looking for work as she is doing her RSA course on Saturday 9th January. Gina and I are still looking for work so we have been handing out our CV's to retail shops and I have applied for a few administration/receptionist jobs. I spoke with Anita from AA Appointments about whether any jobs have come available but she said that most of the clients start back at work next week so she should be able to give me more of an update on work then. On Friday 8th January I had a hair appointment at Split Enz hairdressers in Crows Nest. I walked down there for 10am and had my hair rehighlighted blonde again as the roots were getting really bad and then had it cut short as my hair had grown so much since I had it cut back in September. It looked really good so I was very pleased. It cost $195.00 which was really expensive compared to prices in the UK but Sydney is like London prices. My dad had given me some money for Christmas so I used it by getting my hair done. Thanks Dad. In the evening Kerry, Gina and I had a BBQ again and then got ready to go out for Aimee's birthday. We walked to North Sydney station and got a train to Town Hall station. From here we walked to Darling Harbour and met up with Aimee, her sister Nicki, Guy, Tom and some other friends of Aimee's in Docks. We got drinks for $4.00 as Aimee works in Docks and receives staff prices. We stayed here for a while. Its really nice down Darling Harbour at night with all the buildings lit up and reflecting off the water. Its a good atmosphere. After being in Docks we headed to The Ivy which is a club located in George street. Everyone said that it was $20.00 to get in but when we arrived it was free entry. It was so busy in the club and took ages to move around the place. There was no roof to the building which was nice as it was so hot. Drinks were so expensive in the club so we were glad that we had cheap drinks in Docks. Everyone had a great night especially Aimee. Happy Birthday. We had to get a bus back to the apartment as we didn't realise that the trains stop running at midnight. It was around 3am when we got back. On Saturday 9th January Kerry left the apartment around 10am to go and check into the YHA hostel at the Rocks which is near to Circular Quay and then she went to Kings Cross to do the RSA course. I walked to North Sydney station to catch a train to Town Hall station and went to the internet cafe for a bit in Woolworths down George street. I wanted to load some photos onto facebook as we can't transfer photos on Bruce's computer for some reason and my memory card is getting full now. After I had finished doing this I had a walk around Darling Harbour and took some photos. I headed back to the apartment around 7pm getting off the train at Wollstonecraft. I thought it might be a shorter walk back to the apartment but I got a bit lost so I had to ask someone for directions. In the end I found Rocklands Road where the apartment was. Gina had heard back about the promotions job with Medibank working at the tennis tournament at Sydney Olympic Park. She didn't get the job as they had decided to use people that had worked at it before. Kerry passed her RSA course and has an interview at Peter Doyle's restaurant tomorrow down at the Rocks. In the evening Bruce and Alex arrived back at the apartment around 9pm after flying in from Singapore. It was great to see Bruce again after so many years and to finally meet Alex for the first time. We sat chatting to them about our travels and Gina and I heard all about Nick and Maddie's wedding and Bruce and Alex told us about their trip to the UK and Singapore. After a catch up we all went to bed. On Sunday 10th January Gina and I got the train from North Sydney station to Circular Quay station after changing at Town Hall station and met up with Kerry at the Opera bar. We had a few drinks here taking in the amazing view of the Harbour Bridge. We then walked to the Rocks and had a look around the market. It was massive. There is always a market held at the Rocks one day during the week and at the weekends. We saw Aimee, Nicki, Guy and some other people who had been out for Aimee's birthday at the market as well. It was such a nice day weather wise. Really hot and sunny. After the market Kerry had to go for her interview at Peter Doyle's restaurant so we said goodbye to Aimee, Nicki etc and Gina and I went for a walk around Circular Quay ending up at the Opera bar again. Kerry got the job at Peter Doyle's and starts tomorrow. Kerry rejoined us at the Opera bar and then Kerry and Gina went to Nando's for dinner. I couldn't afford to eat out especially with no job at the moment so I went back to the apartment to eat. Its nice to cross over the bridge all the time as you get some great views.
