On Wednesday 23rd December we said goodbye to Aimee as she was leaving the apartment at 10am for work. We walked to North Sydney train station which was a 15 minute walk from the apartment and got a train to Wynyard. We got a drink from Starbucks and then walked along the streets in the city having a look around until we got to the Royal Botanic Gardens. The Botanic Gardens are so beautiful and massive as well. We spent quite a while walking around the gardens and took loads of photos. Then we found the Fleet Steps at Mrs Macquarie's Point where GMTV was being filmed. Mum had texted me a few days ago and told me to try and get on GMTV. We got to the Fleet Steps for 4pm and didn't leave until 7.30pm. The presenter on GMTV was Jonny and he came out in a Hawaiian shirt lol. They filmed people for 10 minutes every half hour and everyone crowded round to get on TV when they were filming. Gina and I managed to get on TV in the background and then the camera was filming up and down a line which I was at the front of so I managed to get on TV again. Mum texted to say she had seen me. We watched the clips back on GMTV's website. We even got a chance to talk to Jonny briefly inbetween filming which was brilliant. Friday 25th December was Christmas Day. Merry Christmas everyone. We wanted to spend the day at the beach and have a BBQ but the weather wasn't very good and it rained late in the afternoon. We also thought that public transport wouldn't be operating today so we wouldn't be able to get to the beach anyway. Aimee had invited us to Coogee beach and the Bristol guys Craig, Rich, Mike and Spencer had invited us to Bondi Beach. We decided to have Christmas Day in the apartment. It was very wierd for both of us being here away from family. We didn't have any decorations up in the apartment, no Christmas tree and no presents to open. It just felt like a normal day for us. In the afternoon we noticed a couple of buses drive past the apartment. We were so annoyed as we could have gone to the beach after all. We cooked another chicken roast as Turkey was so expensive to buy here in Australia. We spoke on the phone to our family in the evening. It was morning over in the UK so only the start of Christmas Day for them whereas it was nearly the end for us. Saturday 26th December we went to the Boxing Day sales. We got a train from North Sydney to Town Hall station and looked around Queen Victoria Shopping Centre down George Street. It was manic and so busy. Everyone was out for the sales and people were queuing to get into shops. I have never seen so many people out. We tried to get into the Myer Centre which is full of department stores but there was a massive queue to get in so we decided to walk to Darling Harbour. It was so lovely down there and loads of great bars and restaurants on both sides of the harbour plus a IMax cinema, loads of hotels, Sydney Wildlife World, Sydney Aquarium and Sydney Maritime Museum. There is a shopping centre called Harbourside as well so we had a walk around here. Most of the shops are really expensive even though things are in the sales but there are a couple of shops that have cheap clothes in them. I managed to pick up a shirt for work in Valley Girl and a couple of skirts in Cotton On in the Queen Victoria Shopping Centre. We have been using the gym loads still and trying to get fit again.
