We made it across the border despite the rumours of danger and arrived in Penang pretty late. We were meant to go to Langkowi (another Malaysian island) but our bus driver had made us miss our connecting bus which was a bit annoying. So instead we came to penang expecting a smallish island with lots of nice beaches and not too much development and boy were we wrong. Penang turned out to be huge with so much development ie huge tower blocks and offices a small KL. We met these two really cool girls and a german on the bus down and we spent most of our nights with them. The food is dirt cheap here but shocked by the price of alcohol which is about the same as in Guernsey. We went out the other night and the only thing that hurt in the morning was my wallet.
Yesterday we went to a mosque where this guy let us watch their second praying session. What we didnt know was that he would then tell us the whole history of islam and try to sell it to us but i still liked him he was a kind fellow with a big bushy beard. After this we went to this temple thing to see a huge bronze statue only to find tahtit was in scaffolding, less than impressive. After havingsuch a cultural day we thought why stop and went to the Penang Hill where we went up a cable car to 800m above sea level or something was an awesome view.
Unfortunatly im going to the Perithian islands today which is meant to be so beautiful and untouched that they have no atms or internet etc so wont be doing this for a while so feel sorry for me please.
