We got to Teman Negara rainforest about 8pm after many bus transfers and not enough sleep. After sharing a room with a german called yurgi we booked a 3 day jungle trek starting the next day. We got up early to buy our rubber trekking shoes which were a crime to fashion and comfort. The whole trek was nothing like we'd ever done before but in a good way overall we all really enjoyed it. The first day we took a boat up the river doing rapid shooting. We had a 5 hour (8k) trek through the jungle until we reached a massive cave. We did it so quickly that we made it there in 3.30hrs which i thought wasnt bad. After we had settled down and done our jobs it was time for a leech check and i had come off the worse with a wopping 4 leeches but they are clean b*****s so i wasnt too bothered, share the wealth that what i say. We slept in the bat cave after washing in the stream and collecting fire wood. We had tinned curry and tea for our dinner which wasnt all bad. We slept in the cave with our trek guide and another group of three American guys, it was a good laugh there were more bats than sense i was surprised noone got excreted on. The next day we did another morning trek to this river where we went swimming in the river and did a rope swing which was really immense. After this we did another difficult trek which was pretty up and down which did not help as it was pretty muddy. Wer caught a boat to this local Orang Asli tribe where we stayed the night. In the evening we had curry (again) by the fire, drank tigers and chin wagged to the (rich) local tribe Chief. In the morning they showed us how to make fire and use there local hunting weapon which i was a natural at hitting the penguin target (everyone was mighty impressed). It was a very enjoyable experiance but i could not wait to get some clean clothes on and take one of the best showers of my shower career. Its been a fantastic week and I have loved Malaysia so far. Also we did the longest canopy walkway in the world but that was a bit of a bore. Speak to you later. Pierre
